Mega-Superstars Rihanna & Drake Lead The Pack For The 2012 VMA Nominations,But Did Lady Gaga Get Snubbed?

The nominees for the 2012 MTV VMAs have been revealed, and as expected it’s the year of Rihanna and Drake.The two-time collaborators (and on-and-off exes) Rhanna & Drake lead the pack with five nominations each, including Best Pop Video, Best Male Video, Best Female Video, and Video of the Year for their collaboration “Take Care.”

For added drama, Drake & Riri both will be competing against Chris Brown in separate categories; Rihanna goes head-to-head with Brown for Best Choreography and Drake faces Brown for Best Male Video. (Rihanna is also featured guest in Drake’s heavily nominated “Take Care” as well as Coldplay’s “Princess of China,” which has two nominations.)

Riri’s best gal pal Katy Perry nabbed four nominations while The Throne’s Jay-Z and Kanye, Beyoncé, Coldplay, M.I.A., Nicki Minaj and Frank Ocean all walked away with three.

Lana Del Rey, Chris Brown, and Justin Bieber each scored two nominations.

i wonder…. hmm who’s name seams to be left off the list entirely? Last year’s pseudo-host Lady Gaga — even though both her “Marry the Night” and “Yoü and I” videos were eligible and dominated the airwaves.

The 2012 MTV VMAs airs live Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. ET at the Staples Center in L.A. Head on over to MTV to vote for your favorites!
